AI Meets Advocacy: Scars of Survival and StatuteFINDER.org Are Giving Survivors Free Access to Justice

Thanks to ScarsOfSurvival.org, domestic violence survivors now have free access to legal help through StatuteFINDER.org — a powerful AI tool that identifies relevant statutes, prepares victims for court, and connects them to resources. Available in all 50 states and multiple languages, this tech is changing the game for justice.

“I wish I had this tool back in 2005.”
These words from Alisha Griffin, board member at StatuteFINDER.org, carry the weight of personal experience — and the promise of a better path forward for today’s survivors.

Thanks to a powerful new partnership with ScarsOfSurvival.org, survivors of domestic violence now have free access to legal support through the StatuteFINDER.org app.

💡 What Is StatuteFINDER.org?

StatuteFINDER.org is a free, anonymous AI tool that helps survivors of domestic violence and the advocates who support them:

  • Identify which criminal statutes their abuser broke

  • Prepare stronger protective orders, police reports, and court documents

  • Get connected to local resources based on ZIP code

  • Use it all in English, Spanish, Arabic, and more

  • Stay completely anonymous

It’s a game changer — especially for organizations working on the front lines of crisis response.

📲 How It Works

Using a simple chat format, users describe what happened in their own words.

The AI then:

  • Translates that story into relevant statute codes

  • Asks clarifying questions (just like a trained advocate would)

  • Links directly to state-specific laws

  • Refers users to DV shelters, support centers, and legal aid near them

This is not legal advice, but it’s a powerful tool that bridges the knowledge gap for survivors who can’t afford an attorney or don’t know where to start.

🤝 A Partnership That Puts Survivors First

This initiative was made possible by the incredible leadership of Sathya Callender-Wilson, founder of Scars of Survival. Her team is now using StatuteFINDER.org to offer free legal support to survivors through their advocacy programs.

“I want every survivor to know they have options. And now, they have a powerful tool to go with them into the courtroom, police station, or shelter,” Sathya shared.

My friend made an app for Domestic Violence Laws

My friend made an app for Domestic Violence Laws. It helps you find the relevant laws or “statute codes” so you can know what has happened to you on a legal scale. So you know the names of the crimes that have happened to you. I would highly recommend it. StatuteFINDER.org

Hi, all. My name is Martha (@martha.mae37) and my friend, Raf (@Rafael.Testai) made an AI app called StatuteFINDER that shows you the laws that may be relevant in your domestic abuse situation.

“Alright, ya'll. We’re gonna keep this pretty short. If you’re an abuse victim, it can be harder to like, reclaim who you are in God’s eyes.” "

“My friend reminded me that he has this AI tool that he made, that helps victims of abuse advocate for themselves and kind of know the laws that were violated in the abuse they suffered, on like a legal scale. The crimes that were committed against you. His name is Raf.”

“Just in case you have been abused, or know someone that has been abused.”

“There are resources like this that you can use for free.”
