How is StatuteFINDER different from other chatbots, like ChatGPT?

Many general chatbots (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) are wonderful, but they’re not trained to be trauma-informed or handle DV scenarios. They often decline to answer domestic-violence questions. See this video where ChatGPT was asked, “What do I put for my address in an order of protection if I’m homeless?” and refused to help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sclANA1Z9e8
When StatuteFINDER is asked the same question, it provides step-by-step, practical guidance immediately. Our team has tuned StatuteFINDER so it addresses difficult DV situations head-on while staying within an information-only scope.
Our advocates with 30+ years’ experience trained StatuteFINDER to respond gently and trauma-informed, specializing in legal resources, tech safety, and data privacy.

How is StatuteFINDER trained?

StatuteFINDER uses a large language model (LLM). Our expert team conducts ongoing quality assurance on chats to improve accuracy. No. You don’t need to disclose your identity or any personal information to use StatuteFINDER. The chat may ask for your state/country only to look up statutes (laws) for your jurisdiction. Please see our Privacy Policy for details.
